  • Day 01 - Singapore / Christchurch
    Fly Singapore/Christchurch SQ297 1945/1035 +1 – Daily (9 h 50 m)
  • Day 02 - Arrive Christchurch

    Welcome to Christchurch New Zealand! Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative who will hand over your self-drive documentation and provide you with an orientation. Collect your rental vehicle and drive to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.

  • Day 03 - Christchurch / Kaikoura

    Drive north to the little coastal town Kaikoura (180 km/2 hr 30 min). Board a boat for Whale Watching magnificent sperm whales and other marine mammals while learning from an on-board naturalist guide. (Note: Duration: 3.5 hours/ Adult NZ$145, Child (3-15 yrs)

    Alternatively, replace whale watching with either 2 activities below:

    • Swimming with Dolphins – pull on wetsuits and snorkel gear for an up-close encounter with Kaikoura’s dusky dolphins. Guides are on hand and boats are equipped with hot deck showers and other features for your comfort. Duration 3.5 hours, moderate fitness required, confidence in open-ocean swimming
    • Albatross Encounter – Kaikoura’s best kept secret is its incredible diversity of ocean going birds; 14 different species of albatross visit the area throughout the year. This is a short boat trip out to the feeding grounds of these spectacular birds. Duration 2.5 hours

    In the afternoon, follow the self-guided hike on the Kaikoura Peninsula and chance upon fur seals on the rocks. This evening, explore Kaikoura’s restaurants and sample the local specialty, crayfish (lobster), against the backdrop of the bay.

  • Day 04 - Kaikoura / Nelson Or Motueka

    Drive northwest through the Marlborough Region with winery visits and on to Havelock where you can enjoy lunch right on the waterfront before departing on the Greenshell Mussel Cruise through the Marlborough Sounds. Visit a Greenshell Mussel Farm and taste freshly steamed mussels matched perfectly with a glass of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Drive to Nelson region and check into your accommodation for the next two nights.(To Nelson - 243 km/3 hr 15 min; To Motueka – 290km/4 hrs)

  • Day 05 - Nelson Or Motueka – The Abel Tasman National Park

    Explore the Abel Tasman National Park, with its temperate forest, aquamarine waters and golden sand beaches making it arguably one of the most beautiful parks in the country.

    We include a Hike and Sea Kayak experience – Hike through temperate forests, stopping at a beach to meet your guide and have lunch (included). Kayak along the shoreline with secluded bays and stopping to stroll along its beaches. (Duration 7.5 hrs/ Moderate fitness required)

  • Day 06 - Nelson Or Motueka / Punakaiki Or Hokitika

    This morning resume your journey and head for the wild West Coast. Drive through Lyell Creek, with its rich gold mining history, and navigate through the Buller Gorge to Charleston and Punakaki, providing spectacular views of the wild Tasman Sea. In the afternoon explore the Pancake Rocks, with impressive surge pools and blow holes and enjoy the work of local artisans here.(To Punakaiki - 265 km/3 hrs; To Hokitika 325 km/4 hrs)

  • Day 07 - Punakaiki Or Hokitika/ Franz Josef Glacier

    Travel to Franz Josef Glacier and visit the information center, then settle into your comfortable alpine accommodation (From Punakaiki 130km/1.5hours; From Hokitika 220 km/3 hrs)

    Later, take a half-day Glacier Hike – wearing crampons and follow your guide amongst crevasses and ice ridges leading to the middle of the glacier.

    Note: Duration 4 hours/ Moderate fitness and agility required

    Optional supplement (Alternative): Replace the glacier hike with either of the 2 experiences:

    • Glacier Heli-Hike – a scenic helicopter flight over three icefalls to Fox Glacier’s most spectacular formations; explore ice arches and pinnacles on foot before flying back.
      Note: Duration 4 hours/ Moderate fitness and agility required)
    • Glacier Heli-Flight – short scenic helicopter flight with a landing on the glacier.
      Note: Duration 20 min/ All fitness levels)

  • Day 08 - Franz Josef Glacier / Queenstown

    Today start with a walk around a nearby kettle lake created by retreating glaciers long ago, but now rimmed by lush forest. Continue driving through the Haast Pass on your way to Queenstown. Dense rainforests give way to the mountains of Mt Aspiring National Park as you enter the Otago region. Pause at Lake Wanaka, then cross the Crown Range and descend into Queenstown on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.(381 km/ 5 hr 25 min)

  • Day 09 - Queenstown

    Queenstown is New Zealand’s adventure center. There is a broad range of optional activities available individually or in combined packages, including jetboating, whitewater rafting, sky diving, four wheel drive adventures, horse-trekking, quad biking, bungy jumping or more leisurely pursuits such as walking, fishing and wine trails.

    We include the Shotover Jet experience – a thrilling jet boat ride through the scenic Shotover River Canyon. (Note: Duration 1 hr 30 min/ Suitable for all fitness levels)

    Optional supplement (Alternative): Replace the shotover experience with the Dart River Safari to the northern tip of Lake Wakatipu, beneath the spectacular peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park. This was one of the locations used for The Lord of the Rings. Catch a jet boat up the Dart River Valley, then disembark and board an inflatable canoe for a leisurely paddle back; the ice-blue waters pass through the sheer rock walls of the awesome Rock Burn Chasm, accessible only by canoe. (Note: Duration 9 hours/ suitable for all fitness levels)

  • Day 10 - Queenstown

    You have another day in Queenstown for more great experiences. We include a day on the Routeburn Track (Nov-Apr only) in Mt Aspiring National Park. The day walk starts with a smooth track 6kms (4 miles) to Routeburn Flats. Spend time by the river and have lunch in an alpine meadow or continue further up the more challenging section of the track to lunch at Routeburn Falls Lodge. Those who climb to Routeburn Falls are rewarded with spectacular views and the comfort of the lodge. (Duration: Total walk is 13-19 km/ Moderate fitness and agility required)

    Optional supplement (Alternative): Replace the routeburn track with one of the below:

    • Milford Track (Nov-Apr only) is reached by boat from Te Anau. Enjoy the boat journey to the northern end of Lake Te Anau and the start of the Milford Track. Hike to historic Glade House where you may stop for lunch. Visit the small museum and continue your hike along Clinton River and to the top for a fantastic view of Lake Te Anau. Descend a dry river bed to catch the return launch. (Note: Total walk is 11 km/ Moderate fitness required)
    • Milford Sound fly/cruise – perhaps the most iconic of New Zealand’s natural areas, Milford Sound is a 5-hour drive from Queenstown, but only a 35 minute flight through spectacular alpine scenery. Once on the ground, embark on a scenic cruise on the full length of the fiord before returning to Queenstown airport by air. Hotel transfers are included and pick-up is 1 hour before departure time. (Note: Departs 8am, 10am, 12noon or 2pm, for 3.5 hours/Flights operate subject to weather)

  • Day 11 - Queenstown / Christchurch / Singapore

    Transfer to Queenstown airport this morning and board your departure flight.
