  • Day 01 - Singapore / Moscow

    Check in at midnight for your flight to Moscow:

    Transfer to your hotel and in the evening enjoy a welcome dinner.

  • Day 02 - Moscow (embarkation)

    In the morning enjoy a city tour covering the Kremlin (special early entrance), Armory Museum and St Basil’s Cathedral.  Enjoy classic Russian lunch before continuing to the Sparrow Hills for panoramic views or on the grand Moscow Metro.

    Board the luxurious Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express and after settling in, enjoy your dinner.

  • Day 03 - Moscow / Kazan

    We arrive at the picturesque and historic city of Kazan by mid-morning.  Situated on the River Volga, Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan. Head for a city tour to explore the rich history and culture, one of the highlights is our exploration of the Kremlin Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Day 04 - Kazan / Yekaterinburg

    We cross the Europe/Asia divide before arriving in the historic city of Yekaterinburg, which is also 3rd largest city in Russia. Our city tour takes us to the poignant site where the Romanov, Nicholas II of Russia was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks in 1918.

  • Day 05 - Yekaterinburg / Novosibirsk

    A modern ‘Soviet’ city, we experience the life and character of Novosibirsk’s rich culture where the arts, science and literature predominate.  Our city tour takes us to the Opera House,  visit an imposing statue of Lenin.

  • Day 06 - Onboard

    A day to unwind and reflect on the many sights you have experienced on your journey so far. Share your impressions with your fellow travelers while enjoying the passing landscape.

  • Day 07 - Irkutsk

    We arrive in Irkutsk, the ‘Paris of Siberia’, and our visit today takes in the most significant sites and museums in this fascinating city, including an exploration of the classic wooden architecture. Visit the Decembrist House museum and enjoy a private concert.

  • Day 08 - Lake Baikal

    Few natural sights can surpass the beauty and grandeur of Lake Baikal. Weather permitting, we stop in an extremely picturesque location by the lake for photographic opportunities and for the brave hearted, there is even time for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters.

    Travelling onwards to the end of the Baikal branch line, we leave the train and travel by boat across the lake to Listvyanka, a small Baikal settlement nestling at the base of the surrounding hills and include a visit to the local museum. (Hiking option available) 

    We then enjoy a unique and delicious barbecue in a Private Pavilion, including freshly smoked omul

  • Day 09 - Lake Baikal – Ulan Ude

    This morning we arrive in Ulan Ude, the ethnic and cultural diversity of this area offers a unique insight into its heritage. During our exploration of the Old Believers Village we have the opportunity to learn about the culture and history of these religious people as we are treated to a traditional meal and enjoy a folk concert featuring local dancers and musicians.

  • Day 10 - Ulaan Baatar

    (For guests taking the Ulaanbaatar and Gobi extension by Country Holidays – disembark at 10am, and proceed for private touring)

    Our Trans-Siberian adventure takes us into Mongolia and a visit to its capital Ulaan Baatar. Passing the central monument to Genghis Khan in Sukhebaatar Square we visit the National Museum. We will also visit Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and enjoy the beautiful scenery of wild Mongolia, having the opportunity to visit a traditional Ger and meet a nomadic family or try horse-riding, an intrinsic part of Mongolian life. Alternatively guests can remain in Ulaan Baatar to explore more of the city and have some free time for shopping.

  • Day 11 - Onboard (or Singapore)

    For clients who booked the Moscow to Ulaanbaatar journey, depart for your flight.

  • Day 12 - Onboard

    It is the perfect opportunity to learn the Russian language or simply relax as our journey today follows the Shilka and Amur rivers, close to the Chinese border.

  • Day 13 - Onboard

    Passing directly north of Seoul, Darwin and Osaka, we spend our last full day on board the Golden Eagle today as the most easterly point of our mammoth journey is reached passing through Khabarovsk, where we cross the River Amur.

  • Day 14 - Vladivostok (Disembarkation)

    After travelling through 8 time zones and covering an amazing 6,600 miles (10,600km) along this epic route to the end of the Trans-Siberian line, the Golden Eagle pulls into Vladivostok.  An exciting opportunity to explore its principal military attractions including a tour of a restored submarine before we transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 15 - Vladivostok / Singapore

    Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Vladivostok airport to begin your journey home.

    Upon arrival in St. Petersburg, met and transfer to the hotel.

    DAY 02          ST. PETERSBURG
    This morning, go on a walking tour. You will walk along Nevsky Prospect, past the Bronze Horseman statue of Peter the Great, the first Stock Exchange, Decembrist’s Square, Vasilievsky Island, Smolny, Cathedral, Palace Square and the Admiralty building and many beautiful bridges of the city. You will also visit the beautiful St Isaac and Church of Spilled Blood.

    Devote the afternoon to Hermitage, Then, spend time at the Palace Square. The iconic Alexander Column is located in the centre.

    Optional: Folk Show in Nikolaevsky Palace with the best seat and return transfers to hotel.

    DAY 03          ST. PETERSBURG
    This morning, we make an excursion to the former summer residences of the Russian court Peterhof. You will visit the Grand Palace itself.This afternoon, we start with a trip to the outskirts of St Petersburg, Russia, to Catherine Palace.

    Optional: Watch world renowned Mariinsky Ballet with the best seat and return transfers to hotel.

    DAY 04          ST PETERSBURG / MOSCOW
    This morning, visit Peter & Paul Fortress.  You have the afternoon at leisure for shopping and self-exploration before you are transferred to airport.

     OPTIONAL EXTENSION 2: 5 DAYS ULAANBAATAR AND GOBI DESERT

    Replace 1-night touring by Train in Ulaanbaatar with a more in-depth 2 nights’ trip on Country Holiday’s Private Tour and spend 2 nights more in the Gobi Desert.     DAY 10          DISEMBARKATION / ULAANBAATAR
    Your train will arrive Ulaanbaatar around 10 am. Meet your guide at the train station. Stroll through Sukhbaatar Square named in honor of the revolutionary Leader and Zaisan Memorial, Those who climb the 300 steps will be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the capital city, the Tuul River, and the surrounding countryside.

    DAY 11          ULAANBAATAR
    Begin the day with a visit to Gandan Monastery, Chenrezi and Kalachakra Temples, as well as the magnificent statue of Migjid Janraisig .

    Next, drive to the National History Museum.  Continue to the Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum. In the evening, attend a theatre performance featuring traditional Mongolian dancers and khoomi throat singers.

    DAY 12          ULAANBAATAR / GOBI / YOL VALLEY
    In the morning fly over vast steppe to the Gobi (1.5 hours). Upon arrival drive to the Yol Valley National Park cradled in the foothills of the Altai Mountains. Enjoy visiting the local natural history museum for an overview of the flora and fauna of the area.

    In the evening, if time permits, drive to Havsgait to see the amazing artwork of our ancestors.

    DAY 13          MOTSOG ELS / FLAMING CLIFFS
    Today drive to Moltsog Els, one of the few regions of the Gobi covered by sand dunes. Next, drive to the legendary Flaming Cliffs (1 hour), named for the redorange sandstone that glows brilliantly at sunrise and sunset.

    Return to the ger camp for dinner and overnight.

    DAY 14          GOBI / ULAANBAATAR / SINGAPORE
    Fly back to Ulaanbaatar in the morning and catch the flight back home.
