  • Day 02 - Moscow (embarkation)

    Your grand city tour starts in the morning with the Kremlin, including one of the magnificent cathedrals still left from the time of the Tsars. Take a walk in the Red Square, where you will see the St Basil’s Cathedral (from the outside). Go pass other highlights like Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the world’s tallest Eastern Orthodox Church, the Former KGB headquarters and more!

    Towards evening, transfer aboard your train.

  • Day 03 - Kazan
    After breakfast you arrive in Kazan, the old Tartar capital on the banks of the Volga. Plenty of history here: on a guided tour of the Kremlin you will learn about the wild and often bloody relations of the Tartars, Cossacks, and Russians. Your Private Train resumes its journey in the evening.

  • Day 04 - Yekaterinburg
    In the afternoon halt in Yekaterinburg and short tour of the city centre which was just restored in 2009. In the course of the city tour you will see the newly erected Cathedral-on-the-blood. Back on the train your journey through the vast steppes of Western Siberia continues.

  • Day 05 - Novosibirsk
    You reach Novosibirsk, heart of Siberia, where you will be welcomed in the traditional Russian manner with bread and salt. Your city tour includes a visit of the Transsiberian monument and the mighty Ob River. After dinner, the train continues its ride eastwards.

  • Day 06 - Onboard
    Your train proceeds onward over the Yenisei River through Siberia. It takes you through the landscapes of Eastern Siberia with its mountains, crystal-clear rivers and verdant slopes. On board of the train you enjoy entertaining lectures about Siberia. The on-board restaurant chefs once again demonstrate their skills with the speciality meal "Tsar’s Feast". Enjoy Russian hospitality during the vodka tasting while passing by impressive landscapes.

  • Day 07 - Irkutsk
    Today the train reaches Irkutsk, capital of Eastern Siberia. During a city tour you will see beautiful Siberian wooden cottages, the new statue of Alexander III and the lively market hall. After lunch, you undertake an excursion to the open-air museum "Life and Work in the Time of the Tsars”. Spend the night in a centrally located hotel in Irkutsk.

  • Day 08 - Lake Baikal
    Today you will visit a Siberian village by bus. A boat takes you across the deep waters to Port Baikal, where your Private Train awaits you. On ancient tracks it takes you directly along the shore of Lake Baikal for several hours. Dinner is served in typical local style as a picnic on the shores of the lake (weather permitting).

  • Day 09 - Lake Baikal / Ulan Ude

    This day takes you along a different part of the shore of the mystical Lake Baikal, and then onwards through the magnificent valley of Selenga passing by wild and lonely mountain steppes of Eastern Siberia. On the way to the Mongolian border the train will stop in Ulan Ude, where you attend the city tour. Afterwards the train departs for Mongolia.

  • Day 10 - Ulaanbaatar
    (For guests taking the Ulaanbaatar and Gobi extension by Country Holidays – disembark in the morning and proceed for touring)

    In the morning you arrive in UlaanBaator. In the course of a city tour you will see the impressive Buddhist Gandan Monastry and the Lama Museum. You spend the night in a centrally located hotel in UlaanBaator. Alternatively, you can choose to have an overnight stay in a yurt in the beautiful Mongolian Alps. (Supplement cost applies.)

  • Day 11 - Ulaanbaatar
    Today you attend a tour to Mongolian Switzerland – Terelj National Park. After breakfast, a bus trip reveals the beautiful countryside. You take lunch within the typical tent settlements of nomadic herdsmen. A Mongolian horseback riding show will be performed especially for you. Transfer back to UlaanBaator and overnight in hotel.

    DAY 02          ST. PETERSBURG
    This morning, go on a walking tour. You will walk along Nevsky Prospect, past the Bronze Horseman statue of Peter the Great, the first Stock Exchange, Decembrist’s Square, Vasilievsky Island, Smolny, Cathedral, Palace Square and the Admiralty building and many beautiful bridges of the city. You will also visit the beautiful St Isaac and Church of Spilled Blood.

    Devote the afternoon to Hermitage, which compares with Louvre or British Museum as a truly world-class museum. Then, spend time at the Palace Square – the central city square of St. Petersburg and of the former Russian Empire. The iconic Alexander Column is located in the centre and it witnessed many historical events.

    Optional: Folk Show in Nikolaevsky Palace with the best seat and return transfers to hotel.

    DAY 03          ST. PETERSBURG
    This morning, we make an excursion to the former summer residences of the Russian court Peterhof. You will visit the Grand Palace itself.This afternoon, we start with a trip to the outskirts of St Petersburg, Russia, to Catherine Palace. 

    This afternoon, we start with a trip to the outskirts of St Petersburg, Russia, to Catherine Palace, located in the little town of Pushkin. It was the summer residence of the Russian tsars and also was a remarkable example of Russian baroque architecture. Like the honored guests of the Russian tzars, the nowadays visitors can also admire the full splendor of the palace interiors and the must-not-miss Amber room.

    Optional: Watch world renowned Mariinsky Ballet with the best seat and return transfers to hotel.

    DAY 04          ST PETERSBURG / MOSCOW
    This morning, visit Peter & Paul Fortress, the best place to tell the history of the city. Then take a private boat tour along the canal to see the city from a different perspective. You have the afternoon at leisure for shopping and self exploration before you are transferred to airport.

    DAY 10          DISEMBARKATION / ULAANBAATAR
    Your train will arrive Ulaanbaatar around 10 am. Meet your guide at the train station. Stroll through Sukhbaatar Square named in honor of the revolutionary Leader and Zaisan Memorial, Those who climb the 300 steps will be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the capital city, the Tuul River, and the surrounding countryside.

    DAY 11          ULAANBAATAR
    Begin the day with a visit to Gandan Monastery, Chenrezi and Kalachakra Temples, as well as the magnificent statue of Migjid Janraisig .

    Next, drive to the National History Museum.  Continue to the Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum. In the evening, attend a theatre performance featuring traditional Mongolian dancers and khoomi throat singers.

    DAY 12          ULAANBAATAR / GOBI / YOL VALLEY
    In the morning fly over vast steppe to the Gobi (1.5 hours), Mongolia’s southernmost province of semi‐arid desert. Contrary to the sameness that the word ‘desert’ suggests, the Gobi is a fascinating and diverse region, and includes sites of some of the most important paleontological discoveries of this century.

    Upon arrival drive to the Yol Valley National Park cradled in the foothills of the Altai Mountains. Enjoy visiting the local natural history museum for an overview of the flora and fauna of the area.

    In the evening, if time permits, drive to Havsgait to see the amazing artwork of our ancestors. Preserved at the top of the mountain are some of the precious petroglyphs of the Gobi, ancient and beautiful works of art that can be clearly seen as the sun hits the rocks from the right angle.

    DAY 13          MOTSOG ELS / FLAMING CLIFFS
    Today drive to Moltsog Els, one of the few regions of the Gobi covered by sand dunes. Next, drive to the legendary Flaming Cliffs (1 hour), named for the redorange sandstone that glows brilliantly at sunrise and sunset. 

    Return to the ger camp for dinner and overnight.

    DAY 14          GOBI / ULAANBAATAR / SINGAPORE 
    Fly back to Ulaanbaatar in the morning and catch the flight back home.
