  • Day 01 - Singapore / Colombo

    Upon arrival, be met and transfer to your hotel.

    In the late afternoon, proceed on a Colombo walking tour with Mark Forbes and his team to experience colonial and post-colonial sites in Colombo.  

  • Day 02 - Colombo / Sigiriya

    Transfer to the airport.

    Fly Colombo/Sigiriya C7 9401 1000/1030 (30min)

     

    Upon arrival, meet and transfer to your hotel (about 30min).

    Visit the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress.  Perhaps Sri Lanka’s most famous heritage site, Sigiriya is a huge, solitary rock, rising above the surrounding plains.  Be in time to catch sunset on the summit.

  • Day 03 - Sigiriya

    Optional: Embark on a hotair balloon ride during sunrise for great views over spectacular countryside and Sigiriya Rock (Best from Nov to Apr)

    After breakfast, depart on today’s excursion to Polonnaruwa.  Polonnaruwa became the capital in the 11th century, replacing Anuradhapura.  The monuments here are grouped closer together in a smaller site which we can explore on bicycles if you wish.

    After lunch, drive to Habarana.  Transfer into a safari jeep for an excursion into Minneriya National Park.  Herds of wild elephant gather around the ancient reservoir of Minneriya Tank.

  • Day 04 - Sigiriya / Dambulla / Kandy

    Check-out after a leisurely breakfast and drive to Kandy.  En-route, we visit the beautiful cave temples of Dambulla.  There are five separate caves, from which temples are filled with Buddha images.

    Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its precious Buddhist relics. Enjoy a short walking tour through the town centre before catching the puja ceremony at the Temple of Tooth which houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist artefact (expect huge crowd).

    Alternative to Kandy Walking Tour: Enjoy a walk in the Royal Botanical Gardens with Professor Palipana – a Botanist and author of several publications and the first documentary by the Agricultural Department of Sri Lanka. 

    Optional: Spend an hour or two at an exclusive and eminent artist’s studio to have an intimate glimpse into his life, philosophy, art and music.

  • Day 05 - Kandy / Hill Country

    After an early breakfast, transfer to Peradeniya railway station (approx. 1-hour drive) for your 3.5 hour scenic train ride to the hill country.

    Arrive at the hill country estate and transfer to your tea estate then take the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the views, or do some easy walks through the tea plantations.

  • Day 06 - Hill Country

    This morning, visit a working tea factory and plantation to learn about how the green gold is produced, from picking to processing to grading. Complete the experience with a tea tasting session and pluck some tea leaves if you wish!

    Have the remainder of the day to enjoy the lush surrounds of your environment.

    Optional: Hike or cycle among the tea bushes and observe the lifestyle of tea pluckers.

  • Day 07 - Hill Country / Yala National Park

    Drive about 5 hours to Yala National Park on the South Coast.

    Yala National Park, on the south-east corner of the island, is justifiably Sri Lanka’s most famous and most crowded as it has one of the world’s highest concentrations of leopard. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park.

  • Day 08 - Yala National Park

    Spend the day at Yala National Park with an early-morning and afternoon jeep safari included.

  • Day 09 - Yala National Park / Galle

    This morning, check-out and drive 4 hours to Galle along the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Drive past wetlands, bustling market towns and traditional fishing villages.

    Galle Fort, a UNESCO site is an atmospheric ‘old town’ of Dutch colonial buildings, with small restaurants, boutiques and bookshops. Take a walking tour with a local specialist guide, a 4th generation resident of Galle from the Moor community.

  • Day 10 - Galle

    This morning  visit a cinnamon plantation to learn about the cinnamon cultivation and production process.

    Rest of the afternoon is free at leisure.

  • Day 11 - Galle / Colombo / Singapore

    Take the toll highway (about 2 hours) to Colombo airport for your flight.
