About 'Twilight Express Mizukaze'

Mizukaze double room

The 10-car Twilight Express Mizukaze is described as a luxury mobile hotel with a touch of nostalgia.  It harmonizes with the most scenic landscapes of Western Japan. Routes include the Sanyo Route that passes through Kurashiki and Onomichi along the Seto Inland Sea and the San-in Route that passes through Izumo and Tottori Sand Dunes along the Japan Sea. A three days two nights journey that follow both coastlines in a circular loop is also available.

Routings

2 Days Kyoto/Osaka – Shimonseki or vice versa
- Sanyo Course Outbound via Kurashiki


This journey starts from Kyoto and ends in Shimonseki with photography stops at Asashi Kaikyo Bridge, Wakes and Onomichi Channel. Sightseeing stops include a special
visit to the Yurinso villa for its artwork collection led by a curator and join a commentary at Kikkawa Historical Museum on the museum’s collection by the curator.

- Sanyo Course Inbound via Miyajima
The upward route starts in Shimonseki and ends in Osaka/Kyoto. Enjoy a guided tour by the shrine priest at the World Heritage site Itsukushima Shrine. Climb aboard on a luxurious cruise, and then chill at Bella Vista SPA & MARINA ONOMICHI, a resort hotel which boasts panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea.

- Sanin Course Outbound via Higashi-Hagi
During the train journey, stop in the town of Eikitei. Dressed up like a local in yukata and stroll down the historic streets of the town. Continue on to Shoka Sonjuku and learn more of the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate, and end the day visit to the famous Hagi ware kiln Fubashiri-an Miwa Gama.

- Sanyo Course Inbound via Tottori
This journey takes you to the less explored Tottori Sand Dunes, which is part of a Global Geopark, and at The Sand Museum. Visit Izumo Taisha Shrine, which is dedicated to Okuninushi no Okami, the god of marriage.

3 Days Sanyo / Sanin round trip
Starts and ends in Kyoto, the 3 days 2 nights circular loop journey takes you to some of the best landscapes of west Japan.
