Itinerary

  • Day 01 - Singapore/ Takamatsu/ Kotohira
    Fly Singapore/ Tokyo-Haneda JL 036 2150/0550+1 (7h)- Daily
      Tokyo-Haneda/ Takamatsu JL 475 0745/0900+1 (1h 15m)- Daily


    Upon arrival, be met and transferred to Kotohira.

    Start off the tour with Kotohira-gu, a Shinto shrine located to the top of Mount Zozu and be rewarded by the views of the town. On the way down, visit the Kanamaru-za Old Theatre, Japan's oldest kabuki playhouse.

    Transfer to hotel. Check-in and enjoy the Kaiseki-Ryori dinner.

  • Day 02 - Kotohira/ Oboke/ Iya

    Today, visit the Hashikura Temple where you can admire the incredible scenery. For lunch, you may want to try the famous Sanoki Udon (own expenses).

    Drive to Oboke Gorge, a calm, emerald green stretch of the Yoshino River and enjoy a boat ride with colorful foliage along the way. Then, visit Kazurabashi Bridge, followed by a stop to Biwa waterfall. Arrive in the heart of Iya Valley. Visit the famous Manneken Pis Statue and take a good view of Yoshino River and green valley.

    Transfer to hotel. You may want to take the cable car that takes you to the rotenburo (open-air bath) at the bottom of the valley. A Kaiseki-Ryori dinner awaits you in the evening.

  • Day 03 - Iya Valley

    After breakfast, visit the Bukeyashiki-kita clan, a restored Samurai house. Continue on to the Higashi-Iya Museum, which showcases the traditional heritage of the settlements followed by the “Ochiai” village, an ancient village of traditional Japanese houses.

    Enroute, stop for a local Ochiai lunch at your own expenses. After lunch, take the Okuiya monorail, billed as the world's longest monorail of this type.  Continue on to the village of the dolls “Kakashi no sado”. Take a fun “Wild Monkey Bridge” wooden cart ride to cross the river, a reminiscent of the old times before returning to your ryokan for your kaiseki dinner.

  • Day 04 - Iya Valley/ Mt Tsurugi/ Takamatsu
    This morning, ride the winding road to Tsurugi san and embark on some nice, easy hikes in the mountain with your guide. Along the way, you can stop at O-Tsurugi Shrine for a free sip of holy sake and a drink at a clear mountain spring.

    Proceed for lunch and then transfer to Takamatsu. Enroute, stop at Mt Yashima where you can take in the view of Takamatsu and Seto Inland.

    Check in to your hotel.  Free at leisure for the rest of the day.

  • Day 05 - Takamatsu/ Naoshima/ Takamatsu

    This morning, head to Naoshima, an island located in the Seto Inland Sea of Japan via ferry.

    We first visit the Naoshima Pavillion, which will form part of the Setouchi International Art festival in 2016. Then head to Chichu Art Museum, a site rethinking the relationship between nature and people. Visit the Benesse Art Site Naoshima, which is home to some of the finest contemporary art. Continue to Benesse House Museum with installations within and surrounding the building. Enjoy Japanese ISSEN lunch here.

    Next is Lee Ufan Museum, where you can admire the Ando-designed structure house paintings and sculptures from 1970s’ onwards. The museum is positioned in isolation in a valley surrounded by mountain and sea. Final stop is the Art House Project Ando Museum, where you can marvel the collection of abandoned buildings converted into art installations blended into the traditional Japanese neighborhood.

    (Note: you will be taking shared shuttle bus between the museums)

    Return to Takamatsu by ferry and walk back to the hotel.

  • Day 06 - Takamatsu/ Singapore

    Visit the Ritsurin Garden, one of the most famous historical gardens.

    After lunch, visit Takamatsu Castle, one of the few Japanese castles built along a waterfront and features saltwater moats that draw directly from the sea,

    Free at leisure till your transfer to the airport.
